The Egyptian One
About this variant
With its intense purple hues and short leaves, Purple Basil stands out from the classic Large Green Basil. It has a strong taste, with notes of pepper and ginger.
How to cook this variant?
Purple Basil is usually eaten raw, in salads or desserts. Its strong flavour blends perfectly with strawberries. It can also be enjoyed as an herbal tea, for a colourful drink with anti-inflammatory properties.
The little extra to shine
The first evidence of Purple Basil being planted can be found in ancient Egypt, almost 4,000 years ago. The variety was consumed at that time for its powerful aroma and antibacterial properties.
Liv, the indoor vegetable garden
Your vegetable garden can be installed in the room of your choice: entrance hall, living room or dining room. All you need is a plug and 15 minutes to set it up!
Developed in collaboration with one of the world's leading horticultural laboratories, our Growing Pods are made in France. For each variety, 6 to 8 months of horticultural tests are necessary to ensure the perfect dose of nutrients to the plant, from germination through to harvest, sometimes including fruiting. The quality of our Growing Pods ensures exceptional yields for each plant installed in our Liv and Amo vegetable gardens. From 300 to 700g of harvest per plant!
Our Growing Pods are all composed as follows:
- a local plant subtrate, which replaces the traditional bag of potting soil, while providing the plant with a growing medium and enough space for its roots to develop properly ;
- Nutrients: magnesium, iron, calcium... optimised in dosage according to the needs of each plant to preserve all its nutritional and taste qualities;
- seeds, all of French origin, organic and unprocessed. Often from old, naturally compact varieties, perfectly suited to grow in our indoor vegetable gardens.
Our Grow Pods are delivered individually or in Boxes of 4, 6 or 8 Growing Pods. A monthly subscription is also available. The Growing Pods are delivered individually wrapped in tissue paper with a sticker indicating the name of the chosen variety. Urban Cuisine Growing Pods can be stored for up to 12 months in a cool, dry place, away from light.
