This aromatic herb full of flavor is widely used in cooking to flavor meals with its spicy and fresh flavor. However, cilantro leaves will quickly turn yellow if you don't store them well. Like parsley , basil , and other herbs, you can store cilantro in a number of ways to keep it flavorful.
Store coriander leaves in the fridge, it's quick and easy. You will thus have the fresh leaves available at all times. This method is adequate if you want to store your cilantro for 1-2 weeks.
1- Moisten a paper towel and roll up your coriander bouquet with it, then place in the refrigerator for a maximum of 1 week .
2- Cut the end of the stems using scissors, then put them in a glass of water or a jar. Take freezer bags, then cover the bunch of coriander with a bag. Tie it to the glass with a rubber band. You can then put the container in the refrigerator: in the bin or on the door. Do not leave for more than 12 days .
Freezing is particularly suitable for storing cilantro. Indeed, this aromatic herb can thus be stored for a long time while retaining all its flavor. In the same way, you can freeze basil, chives , dill and parsley very well.
Drying cilantro is an easy way to store it, but it will lose some of its flavor. Other aromatic herbs are more conducive to drying. This is particularly the case with rosemary, thyme, bay leaf and oregano. Above all, do not keep coriander, in leaves or in seeds, as well as your other aromatic herbs, in a plastic bag because it would then be exposed to humidity.
You will have to watch the cooking carefully and be careful that the leaves do not burn.
Coriander seeds can be used for the next sowing but also to spice up your meals: salad, curry, vegetables...
